The National Association for Family, School and Community Engagement (NAFSCE) defines Family Engagement as a shared responsibility in which schools and other community agencies and organizations are committed to reaching out to engage families in meaningful ways and in which families are committed to actively supporting their children’s learning and development. NAFSCE further states how in order for family engagement to be most impactful it must be continuous throughout a child’s schooling, collaborative, culturally competent, and focused on improving children’s learning.
Quality schools are essential to the growth and development of our communities. In order for our schools to operate at their best teachers, students, and families must work in tune with each other. Thus, we are excited to be a part of efforts spearheaded by Superintendent Nelson and WISD highlighting the importance of Family Engagement when working toward student academic success. Join us this Saturday for the WISD Family Engagement Summit at Bell’s Hill Elementary School from 8 am – 1 pm. While there you will be able to participate in break-out sessions and parent panels as well as hear from keynote speakers all of which highlighting the importance of Family Engagement partnerships towards the success of our schools and the communities they’re located in.
