It’s hard to believe how fast this year has gone by. Walking into the Grassroots office to assume the role of Community Organizer for East Waco feels like yesterday. When I reflect on the year, however—100+ one on one meetings (usually involving coffee) and 240+ community meetings/ events (often involving food) I realize just how quickly time flies…and how easy it is in Waco to build friendships over food and caffeine.
I have thoroughly enjoyed listening and learning, connecting and collaborating. It has been especially fascinating to hear viewpoint diversity with regard to addressing specific challenges in Waco communities—a diversity of proposed solutions…all driven by love for Waco and a desire to see communities thrive.
One year later, we have once again entered a season of joyful anticipation. Tis the season for great expectations and the fulfillment of promises. I have seen many seeds planted this year, new projects started and community-led actions initiated. With joyful anticipation, I look forward to seeing these ideas and efforts in their completed states, new assets in the communities we serve.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Thank you for making this past year a great one.
