On September 3rd we at Grassroots had the honor of being highlighted as one of TNFB Banks Charity Champions at the Baylor vs University of Albany football game. The week of the first Baylor Football game we were excited to be recognized for our efforts with community engagement and homeownership. We started off the week by being featured on the KWTX – Mid day with July Hays announcement of TFNB- Charity Champions. Then we did an interview with John Morris, the voice of the Baylor Bears that featured us on ESPN Radio right before kickoff. The Baylor football game was filled with fun and PR.
TFNB provided tickets for us and our families to go watch the Bears start off the season with a great win. TFNB spoiled us rotten on the day of the football game but more than that the media and press that we received was incredibly powerful. First, we were invited to the TFNB tailgate tent and were the host non-profit. TFNB had a great tailgate, with food, drinks, TV and games for the kids.
It was really fun for the board and staff to attend and be recognized for all of their hard work in the community. Then a few of us went down on the field where they played a video featuring our efforts in serving Waco. On the field they presented us with a fancy plaque and signed football. We felt like Rock stars holding up the plaque and waving the Baylor fans.
We were the best kept secret in Waco. But thanks in part to the Charity Champions recognition from TFNB, we are now known out in the community for what we have been doing. Thank you TFNB for the recognition and spoiling us.
