Hi!
My name is Ivy Ritchie, and I’m delighted to serve as a Grassroots Community Development intern this year. I grew up predominantly in Birmingham, Alabama, but have also had the chance to live in many places around the world from Lima, Peru to Oakland, California. I had the privilege of moving to Waco last year to begin my Master of Social Work at Baylor University and have absolutely loved getting to know this vibrant and deeply connected community.
I spent the last ten years working in fundraising for nonprofits that focused on legal aid, financial inclusion, job creation, and youth development. These experiences gave me the opportunity to listen to the dreams of community leaders while connecting them to resources. Their vision for thriving communities inspired me to pursue my master’s in social work so that I could serve as a bridge-builder between the incredible people who bring these visions to life each day.
Looking forward, I am so grateful for the chance to learn from the Wacoans that Grassroots serves and help build an even brighter future. On that note, I’d be thrilled to meet you! If you’d like to connect, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at intern@grassrootswaco.org.
