As we concluded this year’s roof repair program, I was reminded just how impactful receiving a new roof can be. Most of our clients are on a fixed income with no way of saving for a new roof, let alone having enough in savings to cover the cost of a new roof. As the price of everything seems to have gone up, roofs are no exception. Year over year the average roof costs go up by about $500 per roof, which only adds to the financial strain put on families without any extra in the budget for a roof.
This year we were able to help 30 families receive a new roof at no cost to them through our Roof Repair Program. As homeowners can tell you, there is a lot to maintain on a home, but when you think about what keeps the rain from coming in, there are few things more important than a sound roof. While we strive to create thriving neighborhoods through homeownership, we aim to help those who are currently in their home stay there. If you or someone you know has a leaky roof and lives within the Waco city limits, send them our way and we will see if they can be the next family to receive a new roof.
