This fall, Grassroots had the opportunity to provide Grassroots Leadership Training (GLT) at Alta Vista Elementary and South Waco Elementary. Parents from each school developed unique action plans tailored to their specific school communities. These plans are designed to enhance family engagement, improve support systems, and create opportunities for meaningful collaboration among students, staff, and families. Although the goals at Alta Vista and South Waco are different, they both reflect a shared commitment to making their schools places where all students can thrive.
While these collaborations were an exciting chance to empower families and build stronger connections between schools and their communities, the creation of these action plans is just the first step. Grassroots is actively working with both schools to help parents put their ideas into practice and ensure steady progress toward completing their initiatives. This phase is all about turning vision into action, and we are proud to support these leaders as they bring their plans to life.
This work highlights the power of collaboration between schools and families. By equipping parents and caregivers with the tools to lead and encouraging the importance of engaged families in schools, we are fostering stronger, more connected communities. We can’t wait to see the positive changes these action plans will bring to Alta Vista and South Waco Elementary, and we are grateful to everyone involved for their dedication and hard work.
We are so grateful for the parents who participated in the GLT and are also thankful these two schools embraced the opportunity to empower their families.
