Business Spotlight: Community Auto Care

Business Spotlight – Community Auto Care

Building community is a two-way street. That is well known to business owner, Maynor Aguilar, whose work is synonymous with quality care for community through the variety of services provided at Community Auto Care.

Located in South Waco at 1211 Webster Ave, you’ll find Community Auto Care – a local business that provides general mechanic services including, but not limited to:

  • Brake services
  • A/C and Transmission services (including replacement)
  • Oil changes &
  • Engine Services

Grassroots had the opportunity to interview Maynor about his business and quickly saw that Community Auto Care is more than just a business; it reflects hard work, dedication, family and community passion, and is a story that extends long before the opening of the business.

Originally from Honduras, Maynor moved to North Carolina with his mom and two other siblings at the age of 14. As years went on, he found his way to Texas and received his B.A. in business from San Antonio where he met his wife, Cintia. In 2018, Maynor and Cintia moved to Waco where Cintia studied at Baylor and Maynor found work as a part-time mechanic, while also being a lead case manager at a local nonprofit.

When asked about what motivated Maynor into opening the business, Maynor said: “The business really started from a child – I was always attracted to working with my hands and was fascinated with how mechanics worked.” He knew he wanted to start a business that served the community well and wanted to use what he knew to provide that service. “Lots of people, including my own clients, have experienced negative experiences with mechanics. I’ve heard so many stories. One of them was a client that originally came to get a 2nd opinion. The first mechanic that they had gone to had told them they needed to replace the entire motor. It turned out that it was just a simple cable that needed to get re-connected. My goal is to provide an honest, transparent service.”

Maynor reflected on his experiences that paved the way to opening his shop. “In March of 2020, I became a full-time mechanic. And I loved doing what I did and had a friend who was supportive of me in that role and what was to come next. In 2023, I really wanted to start my own business, so I became a mobile mechanic. By January 2024, it became official, and I found a space in South Waco that would help me settle into a central location that is still part of my pathway to serving community.”

We asked Maynor what he enjoyed most about his business. “Satisfaction is what I’ve enjoyed a lot in this career. When I am able to provide a solution to a problem, there is joy – not just on my end, but on the end of the customer as well. The reality is that in this career, there is space to be dishonest, but I’m motivated in knowing I can break that dishonesty and provide an honest service to the community.”

When asked what Maynor envisions for the future, Maynor responded, “We really just started so as of now, I support the community by providing an honest service. We called our business Community Auto Care because its important to recognize that this is about building relationships and creating a culture of mutual help. The client has a problem, we provide them with a solution and the best service, and at the same time they are supporting our business. It’s not a one-way street. It requires an understanding that we are working together and helping each other. The goal is to create a community of trust that has many times been lost due to previous experiences – we want to be better. And as for the future, I can envision that in 3-5 years we move to a larger space so that we expand on the services we currently offer to also include tire alignment and bodywork for cars, including a complete service station for vehicles so that everyone can get services in one place.”

Whether you are in need of an oil change, a transmission service, or just want to get to know a new South Waco business, Community Auto Care extends their welcome to the community and recognizes that “it’s not just about fixing cars, it’s about building trusting relationships.”
