Shelter is a basic human need that some in our community struggle to hold onto. Many homeowners in Waco do not have the extra money to repair a leaky roof, and after a few years of the roof leaking, it begins to destroy the entire home. One program we have here at Grassroots to help in this situation is our roof repair program. Once a year, we have open enrollment for roof repair applications to be collected, and then we provide a new roof for those applicants who are qualified and selected. By replacing the roof, these homes are protected from water damage that would eventually ruin the inside of the home and lead to more costly repairs.
Cindy is a past client of ours who received a roof in 2025. She was trying to save money to replace her roof, but could never quite manage to save enough. After applying and being awarded a new roof through our roof repair program, she was able to focus on repairing the inside of the home that was damaged by the leaking roof. Through our roof repair program, Grassroots can help those in need who are at risk of losing their home to a leaky roof.
We are currently in the evaluation stage for our roof applicants for 2026 , and will begin replacing roofs in the weeks to come. If you would like more information about our roof repair program or want to learn more about Grassroots, please visit our website at GrassrootsWaco.org.
